About Sculptra

Designed to work gradually

Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid and is used to stimulate the body’s own collagen response. Unlike treatments intended to create immediate contour, changes develop progressively after treatment.

It may be considered where broader facial support or improvement in the appearance of skin laxity is the objective. It is not appropriate for every area or every patient.

Your plan may include

  • A detailed facial and medical assessment
  • A planned course of appointments
  • Progress photographs with consent
  • Specific massage and aftercare guidance
  • Review of gradual changes over time

Expectations

Patience is part of the process

There can be immediate fullness from treatment fluid, but this settles. The intended changes develop later as collagen production responds, and individual outcomes vary. Results can last for up to two years, although their duration varies between individuals.

Risks and aftercare

Swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising can occur. Katie will discuss risks, alternatives and the importance of following aftercare before treatment.

A consultation is the right place to decide whether Sculptra or another approach better fits your needs.

Questions

Sculptra FAQs

Is the result immediate?

No. The intended improvement develops gradually as the body produces collagen following treatment.

How many sessions are needed?

This varies. Katie will propose a personalised course after assessing your starting point and goals.

Is Sculptra a dermal filler?

It is an injectable biostimulatory treatment with a different mechanism and treatment approach from traditional hyaluronic acid fillers.

Is there aftercare?

Yes. You will receive specific instructions, including any recommended massage, and should follow them carefully.
